2 Must-Have Hair Items for Little Girls (with lots of tangles)

***This post contains affiliate links.***

I always dreamed that brushing and braiding my daughter’s hair would be the greatest bonding experience between us. We would giggle and talk about her hopes and dreams while sipping tea and birds would be chirping in the background…

Insert #reallife. I quickly realized that brushing her long beautiful locks (her goal is to be like Rapunzel) would lead to more fits of tears and frustration than laughter and joy. There were no birds chirping or at least I couldn’t hear them over my daughter screaming  “Mom it hurts” (before the brush even made contact with her hair)! Ugh! Not to mention I can be a little rushed in the task which does not help the situation. (Confession: There have been many times my husband has taken over).

So with that as our reality, I am always on the hunt for helpful hair products to ease the situation and make things go just a touch smoother.

I have tried multiple products including detanglers, conditioners, and various brushes. Some of them have worked okay, some of them not at all. Two of them are AH-MAZING! They have literally changed my life, read below and prepare to turn your hair brushing time into complete bliss with your sweet daughter! That’s right! She may even beg you to brush her hair… okay so maybe I’m exaggerating just a touch. But for real, these two items are the bomb!

Must-Have #1: (you guessed it) The Wet Brush

If you do not have one of these, you need to finish reading this post and then immediately drive to Target (grab yourself a Starbucks because… obviously) and run to the hairbrush aisle. Buy this now. (Avoid amazing end caps if possible so you do not forget why you came to Target… or is that just me who does that?!)

So this brush works best on, yep, wet hair. However, I will admit when I purchased my Wet Brush I was a touch disappointed that it didn’t go through her knotty locks like silk. There was still some resistance. I think I just set my hopes too high. It is a huge improvement using the Wet Brush, so overall I highly recommend, but in order to get the best experience, YOU MUST combine your Wet Brush with my next favorite hair item…

Must-Have #2: Aussie Hair Insurance Leave-In Conditioner Spray

This stuff is the icing on the cake! The Wet Brush is awesome in and of itself. However, when combined with this spray… say goodbye to hair brushing meltdowns. Simply spray this on, let it sit a minute or two and brush with your Wet Brush. Prepare to hear birds chirping!

I find both of these items work best on wet hair. I was completely sold on the combination of the two the first time we used them after a pool day. There is something about a day at the pool that seems to tangle my daughter’s hair like no other. One day I tried out this spray and then brushed it with The Wet Brush (even she was shocked with how smooth it was immediately)!!

We are sold on these items and I can assure they will rock for you too!

BONUS Must-Have: L. Erickson Grab & Go Pony Tube (Hairties)

These are the very, very best hair ties! I received them as a birthday gift this year and my daughter uses them also. They keep your hair pulled back tight, without it feeling tight.

My daughter really dislikes the super tight feeling of a neat ponytail. She agrees that when using these, her hair looks tight and neat, but it doesn’t hurt!

Win, win!!

Comment below, what are your favorite hair products and tools for little girl hair?
