Hi There!
First off, I am so glad you are here. I don’t think it is a coincidence. I pray faithfully that God sends women to my website who are desperate need of encouragement. So if you are reading this, I believe you are here for a reason.
I am Allison, wife of Luke and homeschool mom to Brooklynn & Levi, daughter of the KING.
I started this blog in 2018 as a place to write encouraging articles in hopes that my mess-ups throughout my days could encourage others. Sometimes in the midst of the picture-perfect world of social media, we can be left feeling inadequate, not enough and just plain old, yucky.
I like to be real. I like to admit that I screw up (plus it gives me endless content!!). I like to share how Jesus fills in my imperfect gaps and still uses my life for His glory. You can read part of my story here.
I write to encourage YOU. You were made on purpose for a purpose and the people in your life are there on purpose too! God wants you to LOVE & SERVE those people in the season you are in with what you have so that you can glorify Him.
The more I wrote and spoke with fellow moms, the more I realized that most moms have no problem loving and serving their families. As a matter of fact, the do it so much and to such an extent that they completely neglect their own well-being.
I was that mom.
Tired, unhealthy, angry, under-fed, over-caffeinated, stressed, short-tempered, out of shape, out of breath, feeling like I wasn’t enough, but like I had no energy for more.
That’s when I realized the importance & value of self-care. Not necessarily the hair-primping-mani-pedi-massage self-care you might be envisioning (though on occasion, those are all good too!). No. I am talking about basic self-care that we moms are so quick to sacrifice at the altar of taking care of our families and being that “perfect” mom who does it all.
Self-sacrificial love does not mean we neglect our own self-care in order to love our families, friends and communities.
If we look at Jesus’ life we see a perfect example of self-care and where it should begin. As Jesus became more well-known and needed, he was literally being pulled at in every direction. I mean literally. People follow him around and crowd Him just to touch a corner of his cloak for divine healing. But the busier he became, the more time he took for prayer and rest. That is where self-care begins my friend. I wrote an entire blog post about it here.
This is truly what inspired the creation of Becoming Intentionally U © & the Intentionally U © Planner. I wanted to create a tool & the support that women (like myself) need in order to embrace self-care so that they are equipped to love and serve the people in their lives and impact the world for good!
So welcome, I am glad you are here!
xoxo
